The summer arrived with tons of new releases, tours and online videos – Sweden (as always) serves up a stir of music from Rapid Records, with Fever Ray, Jenny Wilson, and The First Floor Power all releasing singles and exciting remixes.

Opening the mix with a rare track with Billie Ray Martin, singing about flying in a ‘Silver Machine’ for DJ Hell, it certainly is a moody track with BRM sounding more like Elvis than normal.

Jenny Wilson has returned four years later with an outstanding new CD -’Hardship’ Every track is a master piece. Included here are two tracks,’The Path’ &  ’Pass me the Salt’ and Four years ago while completely into Jenny’s first CD Love & Youth (played in my car CD player for months – even longer than ‘The Walking Wounded”). My interest then was, what will happen to Jenny upon her second release? The first CD is certainly addressing many youthful issues (Youth & Love) – but now this time… was Jenny set to repeat the history of many talented artists (Kate Bush, Tori Amos). After listening to ‘Hardship’ I am glad to report that Jenny Wilson has just begun her musical journey.

For the keen ear, you may have noticed Kate Moss doing the vocals for Lemonheads funky ‘Dirty Robot’ track. New York band, The Gossip are here singing about a ‘Heavycross’ – The Gossip are a must see live band.

Fever Ray is on tour with videos, new mixes, even Karen is mixing other artists music. It is as if there are three or four Karin Dreijer’s – now wouldn’t we be lucky if that were really true! Closing the mix The First Floor Power. I suggest they simply change their name to “Powerhouse” – with Jenny Wilson moving forward to leave Sara Wilson singing with First Floor Power.
